China will cooperate with the United States to enrich the dimensions\nof a constructive China-US relationship based on strategic\nstability.<\/p>\n
Beijing (ANTARA) - China\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that\nPresident Xi Jinping\u2019s visit is being prepared to build a constructive\nrelationship between China and the United States (US).<\/p>\n
\u201cChina will cooperate with the United States to enrich the dimensions\nof a constructive China-US relationship based on strategic stability,\u201d\nsaid Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun during a press\nconference in Beijing on Monday (21\/9).<\/p>\n
President Xi Jinping is scheduled to undertake a state visit to the\nUS from 23 to 25 September 2026 to meet with President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
President Trump himself visited Beijing from 13 to 15 May 2026, where\nhe agreed to maintain the stability of economic and trade relations and\nexpand practical cooperation across various sectors. During that visit,\nTrump was accompanied by numerous US CEOs, including Elon Musk (CEO of\nTesla and SpaceX), Ryan McInerney (CEO of Visa), Jensen Huang (CEO of\nNVIDIA), and Tim Cook.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the invitation of President Donald Trump, President Xi Jinping\nwill soon undertake a state visit to the US. During his visit, President\nXi will engage in in-depth exchanges of views with President Trump\nregarding key issues concerning bilateral relations as well as global\npeace and development,\u201d Guo Jiakun added.<\/p>\n
Guo Jiakun noted that head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable\nrole in providing strategic direction for China-US relations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe exchange of visits by both presidents within a six-month period\nwill serve as a very important historical milestone. China and the US\ncan strengthen dialogue and cooperation and manage differences\nappropriately to provide greater benefits to the people of both nations\nand contribute further to global peace, stability, and prosperity,\u201d Guo\nstated.<\/p>\n
However, Guo Jiakun did not explicitly answer whether China would\nrestore the distribution of rare earth metals, despite an agreement\nreached during the Xi-Trump summit in Beijing.<\/p>\n
\u201cChina is committed to maintaining the security and stability of\nglobal industrial and supply chains for strategic minerals. China and\nthe US must work together to implement the important understandings\nreached by both presidents and maintain the momentum of stable growth in\nChina-US economic and trade relations,\u201d said Guo.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, he emphasised that restrictions on the export of rare\nearth metals are in accordance with applicable laws and regulations,\nincluding those involving Japan.<\/p>\n
\u201cChina prohibits the export of all dual-use goods to Japanese\nmilitary users or for Japanese military purposes, as well as any exports\nthat could assist in enhancing Japan\u2019s military capabilities, in order\nto prevent the re-militarisation of Japan and the country\u2019s efforts to\nacquire nuclear weapons,\u201d Guo Jiakun stated.<\/p>\n
Guo emphasised that China\u2019s position on maintaining the security and\nstability of global industrial and supply chains for strategic minerals\nremains unchanged. \u201cAll parties have a responsibility to play a\nconstructive role towards this goal,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Prior to the meeting between the two leaders, US Treasury Secretary\nScott Bessent met with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in New York on\nSunday (20\/9). Bessent was accompanied by US Trade Representative (USTR)\nJamieson Greer during the negotiations.<\/p>\n
Bessent mentioned that the US wishes to manage risks associated with\nAI development, particularly regarding uncontrolled AI agents and cyber\nthreats from non-state actors.<\/p>\n
Via the X platform, Bessent stated that his discussions with He\nLifeng were intended to help create a foundation for President Donald\nTrump\u2019s talks with President Xi Jinping to advance US economic interests\nand bring tangible results to the American people.<\/p>\n
Washington is also concerned about the potential use of AI to create\nbiological weapons, he added.<\/p>\n
China is more focused on the regulation of AI technology itself, an\nunnamed senior US official told the newspaper.<\/p>\n
Recently, concerns have emerged in the US that AI could pose a threat\nto humanity.
