This technological advancement promises significantly higher data transfer speeds, enhancing performance for complex applications and artificial intelligence features.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Xiaomi 18 Fold is set to become the first
smartphone in the world to utilise the latest Low Power Double Data Rate
6 (LPDDR6) memory from CXMT, a Chinese company that produces dynamic
random-access memory (DRAM) for mobile phones, PCs, tablets, and other
products.

According to a report by Gizmochina on Saturday (29/8), Xiaomi
founder and leader Lei Jun confirmed the use of CXMT’s LPDDR6 for the
Xiaomi 18 Fold via a post on Weibo, while also extending congratulations
to CXMT on achieving mass production of LPDDR6.

In his Weibo post, Lei Jun stated that Xiaomi’s XRING O3 chip is the
first chip to support this new memory standard. The Xiaomi 1s Fold,
which is scheduled for release in September 2026, is expected to be the
first device to implement this technology.

Xiaomi released the XRING O3 on 24 August 2026, introducing it as the
industry’s first chip designed to operate with LPDDR6.

According to IT Home publications cited by Gizmochina, CXMT has
detailed the specifications of the new LPDDR6 memory chip in its
mid-year report. The company stated that LPDDR6 offers a significant
improvement over LPDDR5X memory due to enhancements in architecture and
data transfer systems.

According to the company, LPDDR6 is capable of achieving data
transfer speeds of up to 12,800 Mbps and is available with memory
capacities of up to 16 GB per chip. CXMT has already dispatched samples
of the memory to key customers for testing.

As the company seeks to compete with major memory manufacturers such
as Samsung and SK Hynix, it is currently scaling up the production of
this memory. Faster data transfer capabilities will assist mobile phones
in running various applications more smoothly, launching apps more
quickly, and handling artificial intelligence features more
efficiently.
",
