Yogyakarta, CNBC Indonesia — PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI)
revealed that the digital banking application Livin’ by Mandiri now
records around 10 million transactions per day as digital financial
services usage among the public increases, particularly among
millennials and Gen Z. Novita Widya Anggraini, Director of Finance &
Strategy at Bank Mandiri, said that on certain periods the daily Livin’
transactions can even exceed 13 million transactions. “That means almost
4.5 billion per year of accessing that Livin’ application; it is
imaginable if those transactions were still served offline, in
branches,” Novita said at the Jogja Financial Festival (Finfest) 2026 in
Yogyakarta, on Friday (22 May 2026). According to her, the Livin’
application has now become part of daily activities, ranging from online
transport payments, top-ups for electronic money, fund transfers, to
tuition payments. Novita said the surge in digital transactions is
linked to the dominance of younger generations in national internet
usage. Based on data held by Bank Mandiri, about 95% of daily activities
of millennials and Gen Z have used the internet. In fact, around 93% of
national internet usage is currently dominated by millennials and Gen Z.
“The digitalisation era has ultimately driven societal behaviour and the
banking business model itself,” she said. Although digital transactions
are rising rapidly, Bank Mandiri believes offline services are still
needed as some people still rely on cash transactions. Currently Bank
Mandiri serves around 39 million customers through more than 2,100
branches as well as the Livin’ and Kopra digital platforms. Novita said
that the combination of online and offline networks is one of the
group’s main strengths to reach people across Indonesia. “With that
strength, we can also drive lending growth or economic growth that is
above industry average,” she said. She noted that Bank Mandiri’s credit
growth in Q1 2026 reached around 17%, higher than the banking industry
average at about 9%. Looking ahead, Bank Mandiri says it will continue
to strengthen digital capabilities, including system security, as
customer transactions on digital banking platforms rise. “When we talk
about digital, we must also talk about security,” she concluded.
",
