Workers want higher bonus<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Around 60 workers of PT Aneka Medium Garment
\nfiled a complaint with the Ministry of Manpower yesterday
\ndemanding a higher Idul Fitri bonus.<\/p>\n
The spokesman for the workers, Yasufi told the Director of
\nLabor Standards Sabar Sianturi on Tuesday that the management had
\nplanned to give them a 30-working day bonus based on their daily
\nminimum wages of Rp 4,600.<\/p>\n
They are demanding a one-month-salary bonus. As contract
\nworkers they earn a monthly salary of between Rp 400,000 ($180)
\nand Rp 600,000 per person.<\/p>\n
The head of the Quality Productivity and Wage Affairs Division
\nof the All Indonesia Workers' Union Federation, Wilhelmus Bhoka,
\nwas quoted by Antara yesterday as saying that the Lebaran bonus
\nfor contract workers is one month's salary with the amount
\ncalculated by their salary over the last three months.<\/p>\n
He said many companies have already given bonuses to their
\nworkers but some have failed to count the amount based on the
\nlabor regulations.<\/p>\n
The minister of manpower has announced that the bonuses should
\nbe delivered two weeks prior to the Idul Fitri holiday.<\/p>\n
He called on companies to do this to avoid workers' strikes.
