Workers threaten to occupy factory<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): A group of 105 suspended workers from PT Fajar
\nSun Master, the manufacturer of Cosmos household equipment,
\nthreatened on Wednesday to occupy their workplace if they are not
\nreinstated.<\/p>\n
The workers' dissatisfaction stems from an alleged promise by
\nthe company's personnel manager, Henry Edward, that the workers
\nwould be rehired.<\/p>\n
\"We're running out of patience here ... we're being tossed
\naround, without any certainty of our fate,\" said Mansur, one of
\nthe workers.<\/p>\n
The workers, who have been suspended for over a year due to
\nthe prolonged economic crisis, have repeatedly requested
\ndiscussions with the company's management on the matter. They
\nsaid management had failed to respond to their requests.<\/p>\n
The group's legal representative, Buntu S. Tampubolon, said on
\nTuesday that the company had been abusing the workers' rights.<\/p>\n
\"The management have not given any compensation to the workers
\nfor over a year, and then suddenly fired them without giving them
\nany severance pay,\" Tampubolon said.<\/p>\n
Law No. 22\/1957 on Labor stipulates that when a workplace
\nexperiences financial difficulties, under certain conditions
\nworkers are entitled to at least 50 percent of their salary every
\nmonth.<\/p>\n
The group said they would pursue due legal process to resolve
