Workers protest management change<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): About 1,400 workers from PT Cometstar
\nElectrida, a producer of electric lamps, on Jl. Raya Pasar Kemis
\nstaged a sit-in to protest a management change.<\/p>\n
The workers strongly rejected Tuesday the handover of the
\ncompany's management to PT Osram Indonesia as the decision was
\nmade without consultation.<\/p>\n
"The old management should have let us know that the
\nmanagement and its assets would be handed over to another
\ncompany," one of the workers, who did not want to be identified,
\nsaid, adding that the issue was important because it affected
\ntheir future.<\/p>\n
Workers would accept the transfer under the condition that the
\nnew management employed all existing staff.<\/p>\n
An agreement was reached later in the day between workers'
\nrepresentatives and PT Cometstar.<\/p>\n
Those who want to continue working under the new management
\nare welcomed, while those who want to quit will receive the
