Workers protest dismissal plan<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A number of employees of PT. Dumas Utama marched to
\nthe City Council yesterday to protest against the company's plans to
\nfire them and some other workers.<\/p>\n
The company, which provides oil engineering services, is planning
\nto dismiss some of its employees in order to improve efficiency,
\nAntara reported.<\/p>\n
Immediately after meeting with the workers, H. Ace Mulyadi,
\nchairman of Commission E, which oversees public welfare affairs,
\nheld a meeting with the company's top executives, including its
\npresident, Gandung Atmadji, its administrative and business manager,
\nDjaelani Syahran and its personnel department head, Lubis.<\/p>\n
Atje later told newsmen that the company's plans to fire some of
\nits workers stemmed from its worsening financial situation.<\/p>\n
He said the company had reported its plans to the South Jakarta
\nManpower Office, which had advised PT. Dumas Utama to proceed in
\naccordance with Law No.12\/1964, regarding the dismissal of employees
