PADANG, West Sumatra: Employees of province-owned Bank Nagari
\nreceive a mere Rp 30 (U.S. 0.4 cents) an hour for overtime, a
\nlocal councillor said.<\/p>\n
A member of the provincial legislature's finance commission,
\nSalahuddin Datuk Tumangguang, said the poor treatment had
\nrecently been reported to the commission by several current and
\nformer employees of the bank, whose shares are owned by the
\nprovincial administration.<\/p>\n
Salahuddin said \"the inhuman policy\" had been in effect for
\nthe last five years, but the employees were too afraid to
\ncomplain to management.<\/p>\n
Minimum overtime payment in the province has been set at Rp
\n2,500 per hour.<\/p>\n
Salahuddin said the commission plans to summon the bank's

DENPASAR, Bali: Bali Governor Dewa Made Beratha has registered
\nfor the gubernatorial election, a committee member said on
\nWednesday.<\/p>\n
Gde Indria, a member of the gubernatorial election, said
\nBeratha had submitted his registration form before the deadline
\non Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Beratha will run against former Indonesian Bank Restructuring
\nAgency (IBRA) chairman Putu Ary Suta, IGN Santoso, I Gede Wiratha
\nand Anak Agung Ngurah Oka Ratmadi.<\/p>\n
The committee has also received forms from Usdek Maharipa, I
\nGusti Bagus Yudhara, Wayan Nuastha, Wayan Suwandi, I Ketut Robin,
\nI Gede Ngurah Wididana and Putu Agung Suradnyana, who will run
\nfor the deputy gubernatorial position.<\/p>\n
Eligible candidates will be announced on June 30 following an
\nadministrative examination. All factions at the legislature will
\nbe given time between July 2 and July 10 to select their
\ngubernatorial candidates and running mates.<\/p>\n

\nthanks to support from state telecommunications firm PT Telkom

Deputy division head Mumu Natapriatna said here on Wednesday
\nthat graduates only have to click on www.pendidikansby.org or
\nwww.sekolah-online.net to search for their preferred schools and
\nenroll themselves for the next academic year.<\/p>\n
The names of accepted students will be announced on the
\nwebsites, where students and parents can monitor the update of
\nthe selection process by the hour.<\/p>\n
After registration, the students need only to submit the
\nrequired documents to one of 35 designated selection posts across

MALANG, East Java: Councillors in Malang regency have rejected
\na plan to buy new cars for 33 district chiefs.<\/p>\n
A councillor from the Golkar faction, Rendra Kresna, said on
\nWednesday that Regent Sujud Pribadi had proposed allocating Rp
\n4.9 billion (US$597,500) from the revision of the 2003 regional
\nbudget to purchase cars to help the subdistrict chiefs make the
\n2004 election a success.<\/p>\n
Each subdistrict chief drives a 1996 Isuzu Panther minivan.<\/p>\n
Rendra said the legislature recommended that the regents focus
\non more urgent programs, including reconstructing the roads and
\nbridges that connect the subdistricts across the regency.<\/p>\n
\"The proposal is unrealistic because the current cars are
\nstill in good condition. There are many other programs we need to
\nfocus on,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Another councillor, Bibit Soeprapto of the National Awakening
\nParty, said the regent should place a priority on the education
