Workers condemn use of force<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Around 60 workers of transportation company PT Terang
\nAnugerah Andalas Transportasi, staged a rally at the office of
\nthe Minister of Manpower and Transportation Jacob Nuwa Wea on
\nThursday, to protest the use of force and intimidation by the
\ncompany in dealing with the workers' demands.<\/p>\n
The workers said that the company had not allowed them to
\nenter the company's compound at Kragilan, Serang, in Banten
\nprovince, for two weeks and hired thugs in an attempt to
\nintimidate them, Antara news agency reported.<\/p>\n
The workers had demanded the company provide a social safety
\nprogram for them.<\/p>\n
They also said the company failed to pay transportation fees,
\nmeal allowances and overtime pay.<\/p>\n
According to them, both the workers and management had met
\nfive times, but no agreement had been reached.-JP<\/p>",
