        "content": "<p>Worker training center opens in Batam<\/p>\n<p>BATAM, Riau: President Megawati Soekarnoputri inaugurated on<br>\nFriday a training center for Indonesian migrant workers, which is<br>\naimed at enhancing the skills of employees bound for Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>Called the Batam International Training Center (BITC), it will<br>\nalso help the government control the illegal deployment of<br>\nmigrant workers.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Jacob Nuwa Wea said<br>\nthe center would serve as an embarkation point for migrant<br>\nworkers from Surabaya, Manado, Tanjung Pinang and Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore is the top fifth receiving country of Indonesian<br>\nmigrant workers, with 56,000 workers a year. -- JP<\/p>",
