A woman identified as MS in East Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, has been named as a suspect in a domestic violence case after her ex-husband filed a counter-report against her, despite her having filed the initial domestic violence complaint in April 2023. After over two years of legal proceedings, investigators established MS as a suspect on 6 October 2025 based on her ex-husband's allegations, a decision the family contests as an inversion of facts and claims it has been upheld through a pre-trial examination. The case has raised concerns about police procedural irregularities, including allegations of intimidation during an unannounced home visit by members of the Women and Child Protection Unit in February 2026.

A woman identified as MS in East Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten,
has been designated as a suspect in an alleged domestic violence (KDRT)
case after being reported in return by her ex-husband.

MS’s family stated that the designation of MS as a suspect began when
she reported the alleged domestic violence committed by her husband to
the East Ciputat Police Sub-Station on 17 April 2023.

The report was registered with the number LP/162/B/IV/2023/Sek. Cip.
Timur. In the report, MS complained of the violence she had endured
whilst still married.

“When my sister arrived at the East Ciputat Police Sub-Station, she
filed a report regarding domestic violence committed by her ex-husband
on 17 April 2023,” stated MS’s younger sibling in a written statement
received on Wednesday (4 March).

However, just one day after the report was filed, specifically on 18
April 2023, MS’s ex-husband filed a counter-report with Metro Jaya
Police Headquarters.

In the report numbered LP/B/2160/IV/2023/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA, MS
was accused of committing violence against her ex-husband.

The family viewed the counter-report as an attempt to distort the
facts regarding the domestic violence allegations previously reported by
MS.

After legal proceedings spanning more than two years, the
investigator finally designated MS as a suspect on 6 October 2025 based
on the ex-husband’s report.

MS’s family questioned the basis for the suspect designation. They
believed there were numerous irregularities regarding the evidence used
by the investigator.

“MS has always cooperated in meeting with investigators and provided
clarification statements. However, we do not understand what grounds and
strong evidence led to MS being designated as a suspect,” the family
stated.

Additionally, the family also complained of alleged intimidation by
members of the Women and Child Protection Unit (PPA) of South Tangerang
Police.

According to the family, on the evening of 5 February 2026, at
approximately 21:20 Western Indonesia Time, five PPA members visited the
home of MS’s relatives in the Ciputat area. Their visit reportedly
occurred without formal notification or the presentation of an official
assignment letter.

The family also highlighted the statement of one police officer who
allegedly announced MS’s suspect status loudly in front of nearby
residents.

“Ms. MS is a suspect, that is why I am here,” the police officer
reportedly said, as recounted by the family.

The family stated that the incident caused MS to experience
psychological pressure and trauma, especially as she had previously
identified herself as a victim of domestic violence.

Meanwhile, AKP Wira Graha Setiawan, the Chief of Criminal
Investigation Division of South Tangerang Police, denied allegations
that investigators did not follow proper procedures in handling the
case.

According to Wira, there were four police reports that were
interconnected between both parties.

He also stated that the suspect designation of MS had been tested
through a pre-trial mechanism.

“For MS as a suspect, yesterday a pre-trial was submitted by the
person concerned, but the result stated that the suspect designation is
valid,” Wira said when contacted.

Regarding the allegation of intimidation, Wira also denied that his
officers acted outside procedure.

He explained that the visit by personnel to MS’s home occurred
because she had twice failed to respond to investigator summons.

“We remained persuasive and did not issue an arrest warrant. We
conducted communication and visited her home, then at that time it was
agreed that MS would come to the Police Station of her own accord,” he
said.
",
