Witnesses ID Adiguna as shooter: Police<\/p>\n

Jakarta Police said on Tuesday that several of the 15 witnesses
\nquestioned over the murder of Yohanes Berchmans Haerudy Natong,
\nor Rudy, 28, have identified businessman Adiguna Sutowo as the
\nwaiter's killer.<\/p>\n
Sr. Comr. Mathius Salempang, chief of detectives of the city
\npolice's general crimes division, said his officers had continued
\nto interrogate Adiguna and more witnesses in order to complete
\nthe investigation and submit the case file within the next two
\nmonths to the prosecutor's office.<\/p>\n
\"We questioned 15 witnesses, and some of them said they saw
\nAdiguna pull the trigger. We also questioned Adiguna several
\ntimes, although he continues to deny the accusation,\" Mathius
\ntold The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
Mathius said several witnesses, including Adiguna's three
\nfemale companions identified as T, W, and V, had testified
\nagainst the sole suspect, the son of the late Ibnu Sutowo, former
\npresident director of state oil and gas company Pertamina.<\/p>\n
The shooting, which took place early on Saturday morning, Jan.
\n1, has outraged the public, and President Susilo Bambang
\nYudhoyono has instructed the police to be transparent and speedy
\nin the case's resolution.<\/p>\n
National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Paiman said on Tuesday
\nthat National Police Headquarters would follow the case closely
\nto make sure that it was handled according to procedure.<\/p>\n
\"There will be no irregularities. Police headquarters will
\nintervene if something goes awry,\" said Paiman.<\/p>\n
Asked whether a scenario to save Adiguna could be played out
\n-- whereby another person was convinced (through money or other
\nmeans) to confess to pulling the trigger -- or whether Jakarta
\nPolice chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani had met with Ponco Sutowo,
\nAdiguna's older brother, Paiman refused to entertain either
\nsuggestion.<\/p>\n
\"There are witnesses. It is not easy to fool us. If it is true
\nthat the city police chief has met with Ponco, it proves nothing
\nas the headquarters will make sure Adiguna is detained and the
\ncase continues to be investigated,\" said Paiman.<\/p>\n
A source at the police headquarters revealed that Adiguna had
\nbeen involved in three other \"incidents\" involving firearms last
\nfew years, although nobody had been killed.<\/p>\n
\"He was detained once in Kemang and somehow was cleared of all
\ncharges for no clear reason,\" the source told the Post.<\/p>\n
National Police chief of detectives Comr. Gen. Suyitno Landung
\nSudjono said earlier that the projectile lodged in Rudy's head
\nmatched the 19 bullets found in Adiguna's room in the Hilton
\nHotel, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\"We are still examining the blood found on the towel and
\ntissues in Adiguna's room to see if it is Rudy's. We are still
\nsearching for the gun. However, many witnesses have identified
\nAdiguna as the shooter,\" he told the Post.<\/p>",
