Witness in Batutulis dig quizzed<\/p>\n
BOGOR, West Java: Police investigators summoned on Monday the
\nhead of the West Java Historical Heritage Conservation Agency,
\nEndjat Djaenudradjat, to shed some light on the excavation of the
\nBatutulis inscribed stone in Bogor.<\/p>\n
"I am not here as an expert witness, but I did tell (police
\ninvestigators) about the invaluable archeological artifacts
\ndamaged in the dig," Endjat said.<\/p>\n
The police have opened an investigation into the excavation of
\nthe Batutulis inscription in response to a public outcry over
\nMinister of Religious Affairs Said Agil Al Munawar's treasure
\nhunt at the site.<\/p>\n
Police investigators have so far summoned a total of 13
\nwitnesses.<\/p>\n
Endjat said the police asked him a total of 17 questions
\nduring the questioning, which began at 10 a.m. and ended at 3:30
\np.m.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Bogor Police chief Adj. Sr.Cmr. Setyo Wasisto said
\nthat as part of their investigation of the excavation, his
\nofficers would summon independent expert witnesses from the
\nNational Archeology Research and Development Center and the
\nDepartment of Anthropology at the University of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
"We will look into the legal precedents and examine any damage
\ncaused (at the site). After that, we will name suspects, if any,"
