Jakarta, CNN Indonesia \u2013 The Head of the Institutional Accreditation\nand Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Management System Section at the\nMinistry of Manpower for the 2015\u20132020 period, Chandrales Riawati Dewi,\nadmitted to receiving Rp 65 million in \u201cthank you\u201d money for processing\nK3 certifications. She revealed this while testifying in the trial for\nthe alleged K3 certification extortion case at the Ministry of Manpower\ninvolving former Deputy Minister of Manpower Noel Ebenezer at the\nCentral Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday (2\/13).<\/p>\n
Dewi admitted to receiving the Rp 65 million after prosecutors read\nout the examination report (BAP).<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, here you stated in your examination report that you received up\nto Rp 65 million,\u201d the prosecutor said, reading from the report. \u201cYes, I\nhave returned it,\u201d Dewi replied.<\/p>\n
Dewi revealed that she received the money while serving as Section\nHead from 2019 through 2025. She also disclosed that the money came from\noccupational health and safety service companies (PJK3).<\/p>\n
\u201cAs I recall, when I first became Section Head, sir, I was honestly a\nbit surprised \u2014 why was this being given? Why was there this payment?\nEven though I had heard about it before, that was when I found out\nfirsthand. But the PJK3 companies always said, \u2018This is thank-you money,\nma\u2019am, to be shared with the team,\u2019\u201d Dewi said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, when the judge questioned Dewi, it was revealed that the\nmoney was given in exchange for helping process K3 certificates.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not possible that it was just because you were there. You are a\nperson who is part of the process. So there\u2019s no \u2018maybe.\u2019 You were part\nof the business process there, so the question is: thank you for what?\u201d\nasked Presiding Judge Nur Sari Baktiana.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor helping process certificates,\u201d Dewi answered.<\/p>\n
Previously, in this case, Noel and associates were charged with\ncommitting extortion related to K3 certification processing totaling Rp\n6.5 billion.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnlawfully or abusing their authority, defendant Immanuel Ebenezer\nGerungan together with Fahrurozi, Hery Sutanto, Subhan, Gerry Aditya\nHerwanto Putra, Irvian Bobby Mahendro, Sekarsari Kartika Putri,\nAnitasari Kusumawati, and Supriadi, Miki Mahfud, and Temurila unlawfully\nor abused their authority in connection with the Issuance and Extension\nof Individual Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Certifications or\nLicenses for certification or license applicants,\u201d the prosecutor said\nwhile reading the indictment on Monday (1\/19).<\/p>\n
