The President of the Republic of Indonesia held a meeting with the
commissioners and directors of the State-Owned Bank Association
(Himbara) at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Thursday
(18/06/2026). During the meeting, the Head of State emphasised the
strategic role of Himbara banks in driving national economic growth.

In a statement following the meeting, the Minister of Investment and
Downstreaming, who also serves as the CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani,
explained that the combined market capitalisation of all Himbara banks
could reach Rp 1,100 trillion. According to him, this figure reflects
approximately 10 per cent of the value of all national companies.

“The value of Himbara banks is roughly… when asked individually, for
example, Bank Mandiri is worth approximately Rp 450 trillion. This is
based on market capitalisation on the exchange,” Rosan told
reporters.

“Then BNI is slightly above Rp 450 trillion, BRI is perhaps at a
level of almost Rp 200 trillion, followed by BSI and BTN. Therefore,
when summed up, the value is approximately Rp 1,100 trillion, which
reflects 10 per cent of the entire capital market or the total value of
Indonesian companies,” Rosan said.

Recognising this potential, and in accordance with the directives of
President Prabowo, Rosan noted that the presence of Himbara should be
viewed not merely as business entities, but as active participants in
providing benefits to the community. This includes providing equality
and opportunities for all levels of society, including micro, small, and
medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“Banking should not solely pursue profits, but its presence must be
felt by the community and the people through the provision of equality
and opportunities across all sectors, from MSMEs to commercial and
corporate entities,” Rosan explained.
",
