Wiranto to get deputy next week<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Gen. Wiranto
\nwill have a second man next week when Navy chief Admiral Widodo
\nA.S. is installed as deputy head of TNI next week, military
\nsources told The Jakarta Post Thursday.<\/p>\n
\"(Widodo) will be replaced by his deputy, Vice Admiral Achmad
\nSutjipto,\" a source said, adding that Widodo will hand over the
\nNavy leadership in a ceremony scheduled to take place on Monday.<\/p>\n
The sources denied, however, that Widodo's appointment was an
\nindication that a coalition was being formed between the
\nIndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle and the military, and
\nthat presidential frontrunner Megawati Soekarnoputri may be
\nconsidering picking up Wiranto as her vice presidential
\ncandidate.<\/p>\n
Wiranto, who is also defense minister, currently has no
\ndeputy.<\/p>\n
\"(Widodo's promotion) has been planned for quite some time and
\nis part of the military's reform agenda. In the future, the
\nmilitary leadership will no longer be a monopoly of the Army but
\nwill rotate among the three forces, the Army, the Navy and the
\nAir Force,\" another military source said.<\/p>\n
Sutjipto was a former commander of the Armed Forces Academy
