President Prabowo Subianto said the move could\nhelp narrow the gap in the quality of educators across regions.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed the plan during the \u201cPresiden Prabowo Menjawab\u201d\n(President Prabowo Answers) program, broadcast across his personal\nsocial media accounts on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. \u201cNow, if I am\nnot mistaken, we are discussing bringing the right to appoint teachers\nback to the central government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Gerindra Party chair, the push to reclaim this\nauthority stems from persistent issues at the local government level.\nPrabowo believes regional hiring is often compromised by political\npatronage and nepotism, ultimately lowering the standard of teacher\nquality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must face reality.
