        "content": "<p>The Jakarta Military Command (Kodam Jaya) has announced its\ninvolvement in hunting street robbers in Jakarta and surrounding areas.\nCommander of Kodam Jaya, Lieutenant General Deddy Suryadi, stated that\nthe involvement of his command is to provide a sense of security for the\ncommunity. According to him, street robberies in Jakarta have become\nrampant and are a source of public concern. He added that such crimes\nnot only cause material losses but also instil fear among residents. \u2018We\nwant the public to feel safe during their activities, especially at\nnight and in areas considered vulnerable,\u2019 he said when contacted on\nSunday, 24 May 2026. He stated that the Indonesian National Armed Forces\n(TNI) will not stand idly by given the current security situation.\nGeneral Deddy said his command would patrol alongside police to secure\nthe area. \u2018Public safety is the top priority,\u2019 said the three-star\ngeneral. General Deddy also urged the public to collaborate in\nsafeguarding their neighbourhoods and remain vigilant. He called on\nresidents to immediately report any potential threats or criminal\nactivities to security authorities. \u2018The synergy between the TNI,\nIndonesian National Police (Polri), and the public is key to creating a\nsafe and conducive environment,\u2019 he added. He stated that actions\nagainst street robbers would be carried out firmly and measuredly.\nHowever, General Deddy said a humanitarian approach would still be\nprioritised to maintain security without causing further unrest.\nPreviously, Kodam Jaya announced it would deploy personnel from various\nunits to hunt street robbers in the capital. This includes territorial\nunits such as Koramil and combat battalion units from Kodim. Kodam\nJaya\u2019s Public Affairs Chief, Lieutenant Colonel of Air Defence Artillery\nNoor Iskak, explained that the TNI\u2019s involvement in the operation is\npart of the security support from the General Criminal Investigation\nDirectorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
