Former President Joko Widodo, also known as Jokowi, has once again\nreceived a traditional title during a visit to a region after stepping\ndown as head of state. Most recently, Jokowi was granted the title\n\u2018Saudara Raja Raja Timor\u2019 (Brother of the Kings of Timor) during a\ncultural carnival held in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on\nSaturday (1\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
The Daily Chair of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) DPP, Ahmad\nAli, assessed that the respect shown by traditional communities in\nvarious regions to Jokowi reflects that a leader\u2019s track record\ncontinues to live on, even after their term of office ends. He said this\nalso proves that the results of Jokowi\u2019s work are still felt by the\npublic.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe people always have a way of appreciating leaders who work\nearnestly. They do not only remember speeches, but also remember the\nresults of the work they feel in their daily lives,\u201d he said in a\nstatement on Tuesday (4\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
It is known that Jokowi was honoured as \u2018Saudara Raja Raja Timor\u2019 by\nthe kings from several kingdoms on Timor Island, including Amanatun,\nMalaka, Amanuban, Mollo, Biboki, Bikomi Nilulat, Amfoang, Kupang, and\nAmarasi. The traditional leaders stated that the honour was given as a\nform of appreciation for the development they felt during Jokowi\u2019s\nleadership, particularly in East Nusa Tenggara.<\/p>\n
Previously, the Kedatun Keagungan Lampung also bestowed the\ntraditional title \u2018Baginda Pemuka Bangsa\u2019 upon Jokowi. Lampung\ntraditional leaders said the title is the highest honour given for\nJokowi\u2019s service while leading Indonesia.<\/p>\n
According to Ahmad Ali, both events share a similar pattern. He\nassessed that the honour for Jokowi did not arise because of his status\nas a former president, but because the public still feels the benefits\nof the development carried out during his decade-long\nadministration.<\/p>\n
