Sheikh Ibnu Athaillah As Sakandari explained this in his book,\nAt Tanwir.<\/p>\n<p>Allah says in Surah Ar Rum, verse 40:<\/p>\n<p>All\u00e2hulladz\u00ee khalaqakum tsumma razaqakum tsumma yum\u00eetukum tsumma\nyu\u1e2by\u00eekum<\/p>\n<p>It is Allah who created you, then provided for you, then He will\ncause you to die, then He will bring you back to life.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sheikh Ibnu Athaillah, this verse states that creation\nand the provision of sustenance are intertwined or equal. In other\nwords, if you accept that Allah is the Creator, you will not claim to be\nable to create. Similarly, if you accept that Allah is the Provider,\nthen do not claim that you can provide sustenance.<\/p>\n<p>Just as Allah is unique in creation, He is also unique in the matter\nof providing sustenance. Creation and the provision of sustenance are\nmentioned together as an argument and a prohibition for His servants, so\nthat they do not believe that the sustenance and good things they\nreceive come from creatures or others. Just as Allah creates without\nintermediaries or causes, He also provides sustenance without depending\non intermediaries or causes.<\/p>\n<p>Secondly, the phrase \u201cHe who created you and provided for you,\u201d\nexplains that sustenance has been established and confirmed from\neternity. Allah\u2019s decree (Qadha) is not renewed every time sustenance is\ngiven, nor does it change over time. However, what is renewed is the\nmanifestation of sustenance, not its decree.<\/p>",
