Where to find a needy orphanage<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Following a series of articles published
\nrecently in this paper about financially troubled and overcrowded
\norphanages in the capital, The Jakarta Post received a stream of
\ncalls from people willing to share some of their wealth to help
\nthe city's orphaned toddlers and teenagers.<\/p>\n
The following list of names, addresses and telephone numbers
\nof some of the 54 ailing orphanages issued by the city's Social
\nService Agency may meet the demand of our kind-hearted readers.<\/p>\n
There are, of course, dozens of other orphanages outside
\nJakarta that face similar obstacles and urgently need help during
\nthis time of economic turmoil, which has led to the mammoth hike
\nin the price of infant milk and food, among other things.<\/p>\n
Sincere efforts will obviously improve the health and growth
\nrate of the some 6,000 orphaned children.<\/p>\n
Operators and volunteers at the orphanages would then be freer
\nto concentrate more on the orphans rather than dwelling on the
\nscarcity of meals.<\/p>\n
