Indonesian police have announced that services for issuing and renewing driving licences (SIM) will resume on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, following a temporary suspension during the 2026 Lebaran holidays, in line with the national holiday schedule. The closure affects all SIM services at police offices, malls, and mobile units nationwide. A grace period allows extensions for licences expiring between 18 and 24 March without requiring a full reapplication process until 31 March 2026, encouraging the public to check their documents in advance to avoid disruptions.

SOLO, KOMPAS.com - Services for issuing and renewing driving licences
(SIM) will reopen on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. Previously, the services
were temporarily suspended during the 2026 Lebaran holidays. This policy
aligns with the national holiday schedule.

The Indonesian National Police announced that SIM services at traffic
police offices, SIM kios, and mobile SIM services will reopen after the
Lebaran holidays conclude.

The Deputy Head of the Registration and Identification
Sub-Directorate of the Central Java Police Traffic Directorate, AKBP
Prianggo Malau, stated that in observance of the national holidays, the
joint leave for the Holy Day of Nyepi in the Saka 1948 New Year, and Eid
al-Fitr 1447 H, SIM issuance services will be temporarily suspended.

This service closure applies generally across various regions. Both
SIM services at police offices, shopping centres, and mobile SIM
services will follow the national holiday schedule.

After the holiday period ends, SIM issuance services will reopen on
Wednesday, 25 March 2026. On that date, the public can once again
process new issuances or renewals of their SIM.

With the dispensation in place, SIMs that expire between 18 and 24
March can still be renewed after services reopen, from 25 to 31 March
2026.

SIM holders simply need to visit a traffic police office or SIM
renewal service during that dispensation period. They can still renew
their SIM without having to go through the full new issuance
process.

Therefore, the public is advised to check the validity period of
their SIM before the long holiday period. With proper planning, handling
driving document matters can be done without issues.
",
