For years, national salt demand has steadily risen whilst\ndomestic output has not fully met the needs of industry or consumers.\nThis prompted the government to pursue breakthroughs, including the\nconstruction of a modern, integrated, industry-oriented salt production\nzone. Rote Ndao was chosen for its natural potential to support\nlarge-scale salt farming. With suitable geography and climate, the area\nis deemed capable of becoming a national salt production hub that plays\na vital role in supporting the 2027 self-sufficiency target. The\ndevelopment of K-SIGN, however, goes beyond infrastructure and\nproduction capacity. Behind the strategic project lies the active\ninvolvement of local communities, who are treated not as affected\nparties but as development partners. This collaboration is realised\nthrough a cooperation model emphasising transparency, sustainability,\nand social justice. Land utilisation occurs through a partnership\nmechanism that gives residents space to participate in the salt\nproduction zone\u2019s development.
