        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A former subordinate of Nadiem Makarim at the\nMinistry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology\n(Mendikbudristek) testified in court, lightening the charges against his\nformer boss in the corruption case.<\/p>\n<p>The trial on allegations of corruption in the procurement of\nChromebooks, which implicates former Mendikbudristek Nadiem Makarim at\nthe Central Jakarta District Court, on Tuesday (14\/4\/2026) heard\ntestimony regarding the planning, implementation, and evaluation\nprocesses of the educational digitalisation programme.<\/p>\n<p>Iwan Syahril, former Director General of Early Childhood Education,\nBasic, and Secondary Education at Mendikbudristek, explained in his\ntestimony that the development of the education platform was carried out\nthrough intensive discussions between policymakers and the technical\nteam.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the final decisions remained at the directorate level\naccording to authority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe platform was developed through very intensive discussions\nbetween policy and the applications to be provided,\u201d said Iwan.<\/p>\n<p>First, the teacher learning platform that provides modules,\nself-training, and collaboration spaces, which has given rise to more\nthan 145 learning communities.<\/p>\n<p>Second, the Education Report that presents national assessment\nresults in a simple format so that they can be used by schools and local\ngovernments as evaluation material.<\/p>\n<p>Third, the data-based planning and budgeting platform used to compile\neducation programmes, including the utilisation of School Operational\nAssistance (BOS) funds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlanning and policy implementation become more directed because they\nare data-based,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the trial, Iwan also explained that the Chromebook was designed to\nbe usable in 3T areas (disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost),\nincluding regions with limited internet network access.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the device can still be used even if the internet\nconnection is unstable, even on 2G or 3G networks.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed to have directly reviewed the implementation in several\nregions such as East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Papua.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChromebooks can be used without internet, for example for\nassessments and learning,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
