WGM Stevanova to play in Wismilak tournament<\/p>\n

European women's chess champion Antoaneta Stefanova of Bulgaria
\nhas confirmed her entry to the Wismilak International Masters
\nChess Tournament in the East Java capital of Surabaya next month.<\/p>\n
Women's Grand Master (WGM) Stevanova, who won the third
\nEuropean Chess Championship in Varna, Bulgaria, two weeks ago,
\nwill be the only woman in the 12-strong field, four being
\nreserved for foreigners.<\/p>\n
GM Zaw Win Lay and International Master (IM) Oo Kyaw Nay, both
\nfrom Myanmar, are the other two foreigners in the tournament,
\nwhile the fourth will be decided later.<\/p>\n
\"We have yet to select the fourth foreign player. But he is
\nmost likely to be from Singapore,\" Eka Putra Wirya of the
\norganizing committee told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.<\/p>\n
IM Cerdas Barus and FIDE Master (FM) Hamdani Rudin, Hamzah Haz
\nCup finalists early this month, will be among the eight home
\nplayers.<\/p>\n
The tournament, which offers US$10,000 in total prize money,
\nwill be played under the Swiss system over 11 rounds from July 22
\nthrough July 29.<\/p>\n
Stevanova, who is also an International Master in the men's
\nfield with an elo-rating of 2473, will be only the second world-
\nclass female chess star ever to arrive in Indonesia this year
\nafter WGM Alexandra Kosteniuk.<\/p>\n
Kosteniuk, the world's number two from Russia, was in Jakarta
\nlast March for her competition against three Indonesian junior
\nstars, a match that drew much attraction from national chess
\nquarters.<\/p>\n
\"Her (Stefanova's) skills must be an attraction in the
\ntournament,\" Eka said.<\/p>\n
The Wismilak National Invitational will coincide with rapid
\nand conventional chess games, featuring 32 national players.<\/p>",
