The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has\nofficially established a work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants\n(ASN) within its organisation. This scheme is implemented for one day\nper week, namely every Friday.<\/p>\n
Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu\u2019ti\nemphasised that WFH does not mean a day off. ASN must continue to carry\nout their duties fully with the same responsibilities, even if working\nfrom a different location.<\/p>\n
\u201cWork from home does not mean a holiday; ASN still work with full\nresponsibility, just from a different location, while services to the\npublic continue to operate and are easily accessible,\u201d said Minister of\nBasic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu\u2019ti on Sunday (5\/4\/2026), as\nreported by detikEdu.<\/p>\n
The WFH policy takes effect from 1 April 2026. This policy will also\nbe evaluated every two months.<\/p>\n
Teachers Must Still Attend If Students Are Present<\/p>\n
For teachers who are ASN, the implementation of WFH is adjusted to\nthe needs of learning. Teachers are still required to be present at\nschool if students attend.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition, teachers must still come in if their students enter\nschool. There are exceptions in certain contexts, as stated in the\nregulation of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy,\u201d said\nMu\u2019ti.<\/p>\n
Even with WFH, services at Kemendikdasmen are ensured to continue\nrunning. This includes the Integrated Service Unit (ULT), which covers\nface-to-face services, mobile, WhatsApp, and telephone.<\/p>\n
\u201cPublic services such as the Integrated Service Unit (ULT) will\nremain open and operational,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
WFH Supports Energy Savings<\/p>\n
The government has previously established the Work Culture\nTransformation Programme and Energy Saving Movement through Circular\nLetter of the Minister of PAN-RB Number 3 of 2026 on the Implementation\nof Official Duties for ASN Employees in Government Agencies.<\/p>\n
Through this programme, ASN will carry out WFH for one day per week.\nThe aim is to achieve efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptation.<\/p>\n
The policy also applies to educational sector\ninstitutions\/ministries. In addition to WFH, the government is also\nimplementing efficiency in the use of official vehicles, reducing\nofficial travel, and expanding car-free days (CFD).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe that with a spirit of mutual cooperation, ASN,\neducational units, and the public can move together. This is the\ntransformation towards a future where we remain productive, services are\nstill present, and quality education can be felt by all,\u201d said\nMu\u2019ti.<\/p>\n
Mu\u2019ti hopes that the WFH policy can strengthen the quality of\neducational services. He also invites the public to use public transport\nas part of energy saving efforts.<\/p>\n
