        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 The Ministry of Public Works, through the Major Road\nImplementation Centre (BBPJN) for DKI-West Java, is accelerating pothole\nrepairs on the western section of the National Coastal Highway (Pantura)\nto ensure infrastructure readiness for the 2026 Eid exodus.<\/p>\n<p>Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stressed that pothole repairs are\na top priority and must be completed before the peak travel period.\n\u201cThere were reportedly around 7,000 potholes, which have now decreased\ndramatically to 2,500. We guarantee that before the Eid exodus, almost\nall will be pothole-free,\u201d Hanggodo said during an inspection of the\nPantura section in Indramayu Regency on Saturday (28 February 2026).<\/p>\n<p>The ministry\u2019s immediate focus is rapid repairs using the patching\nmethod to ensure smooth and safe travel during the exodus. The Ministry\nof Public Works is also preparing an overlay programme (resurfacing) and\nstructural improvements to rigid pavement (concrete) at critical\npoints.<\/p>\n<p>Hanggodo assured that repairs will be carried out in phases, with all\nstrategic routes in sound condition before the surge in homeward-bound\ntravellers. Beyond road surface repairs, the Ministry of Public Works\nhas emphasised the importance of river estuary normalisation and\ndrainage system improvements along the western Pantura, including the\nCitarum, Ciliwung, and Cisadane waterways, to prevent flooding and tidal\ninundation that can accelerate road deterioration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoad improvements will be pointless if drainage is clogged and\nestuaries are silted up, triggering tidal flooding or water pooling\nduring rain,\u201d Hanggodo explained. The ministry will maintain full alert\nstatus throughout the Eid period to ensure roads remain safe and\nfunctional. Hanggodo also appealed to the public to help maintain\ndrainage channels in their respective areas to prevent water\nobstruction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur duty at the Ministry of Public Works is to ensure the Pantura\nwestern section roads are fit, safe, and pleasant for the public,\u201d he\nconcluded.<\/p>",
