        "content": "<p>The Provincial Government of West Papua recorded that transactions\nfor micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products during the\nNational Ecclesiastical Choir Festival (Pesparawi) XIV in Manokwari,\nheld from 18 to 28 June 2026, reached approximately IDR 1.2 billion.\nHead of the West Papua Tourism Office, Jafar Werfete, stated on Monday\nthat sales of handicraft products such as noken woven bags, miniature\ntraditional houses, and Papuan batik made the most significant\ncontribution compared to culinary and other products. \u201cWe recorded\ndirect transactions totalling approximately IDR 1.2 billion,\u201d said\nJafar, who served as the committee chair for the Pesparawi XIV MSME\nexhibition. He noted that this achievement serves as a benchmark for the\nregional government in designing future events or festivals that\npositively impact the development of the tourism and MSME sectors across\nWest Papua. The regional government will collaborate with various\ncommunities and ministries\/institutions, such as the XVIII\/Kasuari\nRegional Military Command, which will soon hold the Raimuti Festival in\nManokwari from 6 August 2026. \u201cWe had targeted direct spending\ntransactions of around IDR 600 million for the MSME exhibition during\nPesparawi, but the realisation exceeded the target. This is a very good\noutcome,\u201d he said. The provincial government is currently focusing on\ndeveloping ecotourism with a culture-based landscape approach that\nprioritises the diversity of cultural values, history, customs, and the\nlocal identity of indigenous Papuan communities. Two priority tourism\ndestinations, based on the national medium-term development plan and the\nregional medium-term development plan, are the Triton Bay area in\nKaimana and the Arfak Mountains nature reserve. \u201cTourism development has\na multiplier effect on other sectors, such as MSMEs. Therefore,\ncross-sector collaboration is essential,\u201d he added. He emphasised that\nthe development of the Triton Bay marine tourism area in Kaimana Regency\nand the nature tourism in the Arfak Mountains, which boasts rich\nbiodiversity, must adhere to the core 3A concept: attractions,\naccessibility, and amenities. Applying the 3A concept is crucial because\ntourism sector development should not only focus on increasing tourist\narrivals but also on delivering sustainable economic benefits to local\ncommunities. \u201cWe are aware that West Papua not only possesses natural\nbeauty and culture, but also many MSME players selling products that are\ndistinctly Papuan,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
