The West Java provincial government has extended the deadline for the student mapping data entry (PCMB) following widespread technical problems plaguing the new student admission system (SPMB). The extension aims to ensure all junior secondary school graduates in the province have equitable access to senior high and vocational schools. Officials have also outlined subsequent admission phases to guarantee all students find a placement, even if they are not initially accepted into their chosen institution.

The implementation of the New Student Admission System (SPMB) in West
Java is facing problems as parents encounter various technical obstacles
during the registration process. The West Java Provincial Government
responded by again extending the data entry period for the Prospective
New Student Mapping (PCMB) until Thursday at 23:59 WIB, which serves as
the entry route for senior high schools (SMA) and vocational schools
(SMK) in the province. Head of the West Java Education Office (Disdik),
Purwanto, said this step was taken to ensure all graduates of junior
secondary schools (SMP), Islamic junior secondary schools (MTs), and
Package B programmes in the province receive certainty of their rights
and equitable access to SMA/SMK level education. He revealed the time
extension was decided because as of Tuesday (9/6) at 21:00 WIB, the
system still recorded students who had not completed filling in data for
their choice of destination schools. “With this extension of time, more
students will be able to participate in the mapping process and obtain
access to upper secondary level education,” Purwanto said in a statement
in Bandung on Wednesday (10/6). According to the latest schedule, after
the PCMB data entry period ends, the stage will immediately proceed to
the announcement of student admissions at destination schools, which
will be held on Saturday (13/6) at 14:00 WIB. Purwanto appealed to
parents and students who later fail to be accepted at their chosen
schools during the announcement stage not to panic. He stated that the
West Java Education Office guarantees room for students to re-select
schools whose quotas have not yet been met. “After the PCMB
announcement, students who have not been accepted at any school need not
worry, because SPMB stages 1 and 2 will be implemented. Students can
choose schools that still have unfilled quotas,” Purwanto said. Based on
the latest regulatory timeline from the West Java Education Office,
registration for SPMB Stage 1 will open from 15 June to 19 June 2026,
with the announcement of selection results on 25 June 2026. Meanwhile,
for students who still have not secured a school quota in the first
stage, the government is opening a final opportunity through SPMB Stage
2 registration, scheduled to take place from 30 June to 6 July 2026,
followed by the final announcement on 10 July 2026.
",
