Bandung (ANTARA) \u2013 The West Java Regional Office of the Directorate\nGeneral of Corrections (Ditjenpas) has transferred 120 detainees from\nDepok Class I Detention Centre to Nusakambangan Prison in Central Java\nfollowing allegations of a methamphetamine party inside the\nfacility.<\/p>\n
\u201c120 from Depok. Yes, that\u2019s right [it was connected to the meth\nparty],\u201d Ishadi Maja Prayitno, head of the Development and Services\nDivision at the West Java Ditjenpas office, said in a statement received\nin Bandung on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Ishadi said most of those transferred were prisoners convicted of\ndrug offences. The transfer was approved by the Directorate General of\nCorrections at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections\n(Kemenimipas).<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s right, most are drug-related detainees. Perhaps around 20 or\nso were convicted of general crimes. The point is, all the drug convicts\nare being transferred to Nusakambangan, in line with the Directorate\nGeneral\u2019s instructions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Yudi Suseno, head of the Corrections Division at the West\nJava Ditjenpas office, said officials had also taken action over the\nalleged involvement of staff in the methamphetamine party with detainees\nat Depok detention centre.<\/p>\n
He said legal action had been initiated against employees suspected\nof involvement.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe matter is being handled on the basis of the results of an\nexamination, which is still under way. As for the employees involved,\nthe detention centre head filed a police report yesterday, and it is\nbeing followed up,\u201d Yudi said.<\/p>\n
Earlier, a video showing a group of men believed to be detainees\ndancing and partying with methamphetamine in an enclosed room went viral\non social media.<\/p>\n
The footage shows several men gathered and dancing to loud music.
