        "content": "<p>Bandung \u2013 The West Java Regional Police Chief, Senior Commissioner\nRudi Setiawan, has instructed his officers to take action against\nperpetrators of illegal levies (pungli) and unauthorised parking charges\nshould they occur during the 2026 Eid holiday period. He emphasised his\ndesire to ensure tourists can holiday with safety and comfort.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that several tourist destinations in West Java are expected\nto be crowded with visitors during the Eid holiday. Consequently, the\npotential for misconduct by certain individuals must be anticipated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have asked the Criminal Investigation Unit to anticipate\nunauthorised parking charges and entrance fees that do not comply with\nregulations at tourist sites during the Eid holiday,\u201d he said on\nThursday, 12 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that surveillance must be conducted actively by police\nofficers in the field, particularly at tourist destinations. In this\nway, tourists holidaying will feel safe and comfortable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must not allow members of the public who want to enjoy tourism to\nfeel disadvantaged because of unfair charges,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He acknowledged that he will coordinate with the local government and\ntourism facility managers to ensure nothing prejudices tourists. His\noffice will not hesitate to take action if illegal levies are discovered\nat tourist locations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf anyone carries out charges outside the established regulations,\nwe will certainly take action in accordance with applicable rules,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged the public to report to officers immediately if they\ndiscover practices of illegal levies whilst sightseeing.<\/p>",
