Dozens of parents of SMK Islamic Development Network (IDN) Boarding\nSchool students stormed the Bale Pananggeuhan at the State Building\n(Gedung Sate) on Tuesday, 10 March, protesting against West Java\nGovernor Dedi Mulyadi\u2019s revocation of the school\u2019s operating\nlicence.<\/p>\n
The parents arrived around 10:00 am and concluded their dialogue with\nvarious parties at approximately 13:30 pm.<\/p>\n
Sri Malahayati, a representative of the SMK IDN Bogor parents\u2019\nassociation, explained that the protestors were guardians of year 12\nstudents. \u201cWe wanted to appeal to the honourable West Java Governor, Pak\nDedi Mulyadi. We were very shocked by the Governor\u2019s Decree revoking the\nschool\u2019s operational licence in the middle of the academic year,\u201d she\nstated.<\/p>\n
According to her, it is now March, and students will soon sit their\nexaminations. The issuance of the decree naturally caused concern. \u201cWe\nare worried because the state has not presented itself to understand\nwhat our children need and their right to continue their education,\u201d she\nexplained.<\/p>\n
Sri highlighted that the issue extended beyond the fate of a handful\nof students. It affected the continuity of hundreds of students enrolled\nat the school. \u201cEspecially year 12 students, who are at the finish line\nwith only three months remaining before they should receive their\ndiplomas,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Nurdyanti, another parent guardian, added that the current priority\nwas the students\u2019 future. She wanted an opportunity for year 12 pupils\nin particular to complete their education through to the end of the\nacademic year. \u201cUntil they receive their official diploma from IDN. When\nit comes to educational institutions, they are also managing various\nmatters, so give them an opportunity too. So we want the state and\ngovernment to be present in that regard,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
According to gathered information, the SMK IDN controversy emerged in\nNovember 2025, stemming from a student\u2019s expulsion from the pesantren\ndue to alleged disciplinary violations. The parents did not accept this\nand filed a legal notice and civil lawsuit. The school countered with a\ncriminal complaint.
