"summary": "The West Java provincial government has assured that the rights of 1,721 workers laid off in the first quarter of 2026 will be fully met, enabling them to re-enter the workforce or start businesses with greater peace of mind. The Labour and Transmigration Office is implementing mitigation measures and government stimulus programmes to prevent further layoffs and support the industrial sector amid global crises, such as the Iran-Israel-America coalition war driving up commodity prices and disrupting exports. This comes as workers' demands for protection against layoffs were highlighted during May Day 2026 celebrations, underscoring the broader uncertainties faced by employees due to domestic and international factors.",
