Members of West Java's DPRD Commission IV are pushing for the continuation of the elevated house construction programme in Bekasi's Pondok Gede Permai area to aid flood-affected residents. Currently, around 80 residents remain without assistance, with only 10 units built in 2026 and 8 the previous year, highlighting the need for sustained provincial government support to mitigate annual flooding risks. The initiative, budgeted at Rp 125 million per unit, utilises durable precast concrete structures designed for safety and comfort, potentially reducing flood impacts significantly for vulnerable communities.

Members of Commission IV of the West Java Provincial DPRD, M. Faizin,
are urging the continuation of the elevated house construction for
flood-affected residents in the Pondok Gede Permai area, Bekasi City.
This is important so that assistance can reach all residents in
need.

According to Faizin, there are currently around 80 flood-affected
residents who have not yet received elevated house assistance.
Meanwhile, in 2026, only 10 units were built, and in the previous year,
8 units were realised.

“We hope this programme continues to be developed so that all
flood-affected residents can receive the same solution. That way, the
impact of flooding can be minimised significantly,” said Faizin after
inspecting the construction progress on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

He emphasised that support from the West Java Provincial Government
is very much needed for the programme to run sustainably. This is
because the Pondok Gede Permai area is a region that is almost annually
affected by flooding.

“This area is a regular victim of annual flooding. With the elevated
house concept, residents are expected to remain safe even if water
inundates the lower part of the house,” he said.

The elevated house programme is one of the solutions initiated by the
West Java Provincial Government in addressing flood impacts. With a
budget of around Rp 125 million per unit, the construction not only
prioritises safety aspects but also the comfort of the occupants.

The elevated houses are designed with an open lower section that can
be utilised as additional space. In addition, the building structure
uses national standard (SNI) precast concrete materials, which are
considered strong and habitable.

Faizin added that the installation of the main structure can be
completed in two days, while the overall construction requires about
four months until it is ready to be occupied.
",
