        "content": "<p>Deputy Speaker of the West Java DPRD Ono Surono assessed that Cirebon\nCity has the opportunity to strengthen its role as a centre for trade,\nservices, and economic growth in the eastern region of West Java and the\nCiayumajakuning area. Speaking in Cirebon on Tuesday, Ono said the\ncity\u2019s long history as an administrative centre can serve as capital to\nenhance the region\u2019s competitiveness. \u201cAt the age of 599, Cirebon must\nre-establish itself as a centre for trade, services, and economic\ngrowth,\u201d he stated. According to him, with its relatively small area,\nCirebon City has the opportunity to develop various innovations to\nstrengthen its position as a hub of economic activity in eastern West\nJava. \u201cCirebon City, which only covers five sub-districts and 22 urban\nwards, should be more advanced with various innovations,\u201d he said.\nAdditionally, utilising home gardens through the concept of urban\nfarming could be an alternative to support urban development. \u201cUrban\nfarming, for example by making use of home gardens, and many other\nthings can be developed in the future,\u201d he noted. Ono mentioned that\nseveral development challenges still require attention, including\npoverty alleviation and improving education services. Nevertheless, he\nconsidered the current achievements of several macro indicators in\nCirebon City to be relatively good compared to other regions in West\nJava. Ono added that Cirebon City has also benefited from the\ndevelopment taking place in the surrounding regencies of Cirebon,\nIndramayu, Majalengka, and Kuningan (Ciayumajakuning). According to him,\nindustrial and investment activities in the surrounding areas have\nsupported the development of the trade and services sector in Cirebon\nCity. Therefore, strengthening Cirebon City\u2019s function as a trade and\nservices centre is considered capable of driving economic growth in the\nCiayumajakuning and Rebana areas more optimally. \u201cAll this time, Cirebon\nhas been receiving impacts from the development occurring in the\nCiayumajakuning region,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
