The building was among 27 houses\ncompletely destroyed in a fire on Thursday (28 May) evening. However,\nthe fire affecting dozens of structures had been initially extinguished\nby firefighters. On Friday night, flames reappeared from the third floor\nof one building at the site. \u201cThe third floor of one building.\nYesterday\u2019s firefighting wasn\u2019t fully completed; embers remained beneath\nthe rubble. It\u2019s a three-story house, and only the third floor\nreignited,\u201d said Syaiful Kahfi, Head of the Operations Section at West\nJakarta Fire and Rescue Department (Gulkarmat), when contacted Friday\nnight. Syaiful stated that the fire was successfully extinguished by\neight firefighting units. \u201cEight units with 40 personnel. It\u2019s now out,\u201d\nSyaiful said. He added that, based on current conditions, there is\nlittle chance of the fire reigniting. \u201cIt seems safe now, with no risk\nof reignition. We\u2019re taking measures to ensure that,\u201d Syaiful said. \u201cThe\naffected structures are 27 residential houses,\u201d said Syaiful Kahfi, Head\nof the Operations Section at West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department\n(Gulkarmat), when confirmed in Jakarta on Friday. As a result of the\nfire, 113 households (KK) comprising 250 people were forced to evacuate\nafter their homes were completely destroyed.
