Jakarta \u2014 The Sexual Violence and Trafficking in Persons Unit (PPA\nand TPPO) of West Jakarta Metro Police has uncovered a case of sexual\nabuse against a minor in the Tambora area, West Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The head of the PPA and TPPO unit at West Jakarta Metro Police,\nCommissioner Nunu Suparmi, stated in a written statement received in\nJakarta on Sunday that the police had arrested and designated a\n20-year-old youth with the initials AR as a suspect for alleged indecent\nconduct and sexual coercion against a minor victim.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe ensure that all case handling processes are conducted\nprofessionally with priority given to victim protection,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Suparmi explained that the case began with a report filed by the\nvictim\u2019s parents with the police. Following the report, investigators\nimmediately conducted a series of investigations, interviewed witnesses,\nand gathered necessary evidence.<\/p>\n
Based on the investigation findings, suspect AR had met the victim\nthrough an acquaintance since April 2026. The abuse occurred on\nSaturday, 23 May, when the suspect invited the victim to his residence.\nAt that location, the suspect allegedly forced the victim into sexual\nrelations three times.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim attempted to resist by clenching her thighs and kicking\nthe perpetrator. The victim also attempted to cry for help, but the\nperpetrator covered her mouth with his hand,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
In handling this case, the police prioritised child protection\nprinciples and the victim\u2019s psychological recovery. In addition to\ninterviewing the complainant, victim, and witnesses, investigators also\nprocessed the crime scene and coordinated with the hospital regarding\nmedical examination results.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeyond the legal proceedings against the suspect, the victim has\nreceived psychological support and treatment in accordance with\napplicable procedures through the Jakarta Provincial Child Protection\nUnit,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
