The Regent of West Bandung, Jeje Ritchie Ismail, stated that 48\nboreholes are currently under construction to ensure residents receive\nclean water services during the dry season, which is predicted to last\nslightly longer due to the El Ni\u00f1o phenomenon this year. The dozens of\nboreholes being built are located in villages that are in dire need and\nfrequently experience clean water crises during the dry season. The\nplacement is based on thorough mapping.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are accelerating the construction of water sources through\nborehole drilling or SPAM (drinking water supply systems) at 48 points\nspread across various villages, accompanied by the provision of water\ntanks to optimise water distribution to the community,\u201d Jeje said when\nconfirmed in West Bandung Regency, West Java, on Sunday (26\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Jeje added that the West Bandung Regency Government,\nthrough relevant regional apparatus organisations, is also deploying a\nfleet for clean water distribution. This includes three tanker trucks\nfrom the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), two from the\nHousing and Settlement Agency, and one from the Fire Department to meet\nthe needs of affected communities. Another measure is the opening of an\nemergency clean water distribution service. Residents experiencing\ndifficulties in obtaining clean water can report through village or\nsub-district governments, or directly contact the BPBD call centre via\nWhatsApp at 0877-1661-2121 for immediate follow-up.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe West Bandung Regency Government will continue to monitor\ndevelopments on the ground and ensure that every affected resident\nreceives fast and appropriate treatment,\u201d Jeje said. Previously, the\nWest Bandung Regency Government established a Drought and Forest and\nLand Fire Emergency Alert Status, effective from 1 July to 30 September\n2026. This status was created as a form of government preparedness to\nface the risks posed during the dry season.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis step is taken as a form of preparedness to face the threat of\ndrought as well as to anticipate the increase in forest and land fires\nduring the dry season,\u201d Jeje stated. The Acting Head of the West Bandung\nRegency BPBD, Duddy Prabowo, said that mapping of drought-prone areas\nwas carried out by referring to incidents during the dry season in\nrecent years. This data serves as the basis for the government to\ndetermine handling priorities if a clean water crisis occurs again.<\/p>\n
During the 2023 dry season, at least eight sub-districts experienced\ndrought, namely Cisarua, Ngamprah, Padalarang, Cipatat, Cipeundeuy,\nCikalongwetan, Rongga, and Gununghalu. Meanwhile, in 2024, the affected\nareas included Batujajar, Ngamprah, Padalarang, Cipatat, Cisarua,\nCikalongwetan, and Cipeundeuy sub-districts. \u201cThese areas are our\nconcern because, based on past experience, they have the potential to\nexperience drought again during the dry season,\u201d Duddy said.<\/p>\n
To anticipate the community\u2019s need for clean water, the BPBD has\nprepared personnel and a fleet that can be deployed to affected\nlocations at any time. A total of 20 personnel are on standby during the\nemergency alert period, supported by three water tanker trucks that will\nbe used to distribute clean water aid to villages and sub-districts. \u201cIn\nthe context of preparedness, personnel and equipment are already\nprepared.
