The Indonesian government is preparing strategic measures for the 2026 Lebaran exodus, including a 30 per cent toll rate discount from nine to eight days before Lebaran, expanded from the previous 20 per cent, and infrastructure maintenance programmes. The toll discount, part of a 12.83 trillion rupiah first-quarter 2026 stimulus package, aims to distribute traffic more evenly and reduce severe congestion during peak travel periods.

The government is preparing strategic measures to welcome the Lebaran
exodus in 2026, ranging from toll rate incentives, road infrastructure
maintenance, to strengthening the strategic function of toll roads for
national defence purposes.

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo announced that a 30 per cent toll
rate discount will be implemented from nine to eight days before Lebaran
2026. This policy applies to all toll road segments throughout
Indonesia, using the same scheme as previous years but with a higher
discount amount.

“All segments. Same as last year, exactly the same. Only last year
the toll rate discount was 20 per cent, now it is 30 per cent,” said
Dody in Semarang, Central Java.

According to him, the discount is aimed at reducing traffic
congestion ahead of peak exodus periods. With this incentive, the
government hopes the public can travel earlier, both during the exodus
and return journey, so vehicle distribution is more even and the risk of
extreme congestion can be reduced.

This policy is part of a 12.83 trillion rupiah first-quarter 2026
economic stimulus package prepared by the government for the
February–March 2026 period. From the total budget, approximately 200
billion rupiah is allocated for transport discounts, including toll rate
reductions, while around 12 trillion rupiah is set aside for social
assistance.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated
that the stimulus is designed to maintain public purchasing power while
encouraging economic activity before and during Ramadan through Eid
al-Fitr.

On the other hand, toll road operators are also strengthening
infrastructure readiness. Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional
Division through Representative Office 3 together with PT Jasamarga
Tollroad Maintenance carried out maintenance and repairs on the
Cipularang and Padaleunyi toll segments over one week.

Senior Manager of Representative Office 3 Jasamarga Metropolitan
Tollroad Regional Division, Agni Mayvinna, explained that the work
involving pavement reconstruction was conducted from Monday to Friday
(27 February) as part of meeting Minimum Service Standards (SPM) and
improving service quality.

On the Cipularang toll segment towards Jakarta, rigid pavement
reconstruction work was carried out on the outer shoulder and Lane 1
from KM 67+991 to KM 67+660 at seven points. Meanwhile, on the
Padaleunyi toll towards Bandung, repairs were conducted on the outer
shoulder of the On Ramp Pasir Koja toll gate. During the work, lanes
undergoing repairs will be temporarily closed, although other lanes
remain operational for traffic.

Jasa Marga urged road users to remain cautious, pay attention to
traffic signs, and follow instructions from field personnel to maintain
safety and smooth travel.

In addition to supporting connectivity and smooth public mobility,
toll roads also demonstrate their strategic value in the context of
national defence. Deputy Public Works Minister Diana Kusumastuti
emphasised that toll infrastructure has a broader function following the
successful trial of TNI air force fighter jets landing and taking off on
the Trans Sumatera Toll Road (JTTS) segment Terbanggi Besar–Pematang
Panggang–Kayu Agung (Terpeka) KM 228–KM 231, Lampung Province.

“Alhamdulillah. Thank you for the successful trial of fighter jet
landings on this toll road segment. We will use this as a reference,”
said Diana.
",
