        "content": "<p>Weaponry linked to terror suspects<\/p>\n<p>Damar Harsanto, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>The National Police said on Tuesday the latest finding of<br>\nammunition and an FN-45 gun in a cave at the tourist resort of<br>\nTawangmangu in Karanganyar regency, Central Java, was linked to<br>\nthe recent arrests of terror suspects.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Police received information about guns (and ammunition)<br>\nhidden by them (terrorist suspects). One of the hidden weapons<br>\nhas been found in Tawangmangu,&quot; said National Police deputy<br>\nspokesman Sr. Comr. Zainuri Lubis.<\/p>\n<p>Surakarta Police in Central Java said on Monday they had<br>\nrecovered 90.32 millimeter bullets and an FN-45 gun following a<br>\ntipoff from local residents who wanted to hold a traditional<br>\nceremony in the cave. The bullets and the pistol were in a<br>\nplastic container.<\/p>\n<p>Zainuri said the weaponry was connected to at least 17<br>\nterrorist suspects arrested by police between August and<br>\nSeptember in the provinces of Lampung, Central Java and Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The police released four of those detained suspects and have<br>\ndeclared them witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>Zainuri, quoting confessions by the suspects, said Tawangmangu<br>\nwas one of the places they often held meetings with accomplices.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The police will continue tracking down the whereabouts of<br>\nother ammunition and guns hidden by the suspected terrorists,&quot; he<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The police accused the arrested men of plotting to launch<br>\nattacks on several vital targets, including the National Police<br>\nand Jakarta Police headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>They also planned attacks in Tawangmangu, and the hill resort<br>\nof Puncak, Bogor municipality, West Java, the police said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier last month, Karang Anyar Police discovered 2,645<br>\nbullets in the regency and linked them to the suspected<br>\nterrorists in question.<\/p>\n<p>Zainuri said the detained suspects would be charged with<br>\nviolating articles 14 and 15 of the 2003 Antiterrorism Law and<br>\nLaw No. 12\/1951 on the illegal possession of firearms and<br>\nammunition.<\/p>\n<p>Police have blamed Jamaah Islamiyah for a series of bombings<br>\nin the country, including last October&apos;s Bali blasts that killed<br>\n102 people, and the August 2003 attack on Jakarta&apos;s JW Marriott<br>\nHotel, in which 12 were killed.<\/p>",
