        "content": "<p>Wealth commission candidates named<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The House of Representatives on Thursday<br>\nannounced a lineup of 204 candidates for a 45-member commission<br>\nto audit the wealth of state officials.<\/p>\n<p>The House Commission II for home and legal affairs said that<br>\nthe announcement was aimed at subjecting the 204 names to public<br>\nscrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>Antara reported that among the candidates were the Indonesian<br>\nCorruption Watch's Teten Masduki, human rights activists Bambang<br>\nWidjojanto, Zoemrotin K.S. and former National Commission on<br>\nHuman Rights member Baharuddin Lopa, who is currently the<br>\nIndonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>Also on the list are lawyer Denny Kailimang, former justice<br>\nBismar Siregar, activist Eggy Sudjana, lawyer Luhut Pangaribuan<br>\nand Maj. Gen. Saurip Kadi, former territorial assistant to Army<br>\nchief of staff.<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Akbar Tandjung said earlier this year that the<br>\ncommission would have one chairman, four deputy chairmen and 40<br>\nmembers tasked with auditing officials from state institutions<br>\nand state-owned companies.<\/p>\n<p>The 1999 Law on Clean Governance stipulates the establishment<br>\nof an independent commission with at least 25 members to audit<br>\nthe wealth of state officials. The commission should be approved<br>\nby the House before being sworn in by the president.<\/p>\n<p>Observers and legislators have said that high moral integrity<br>\nand skill in accountancy and legal matters were important<br>\ncriteria for selection.<\/p>\n<p>The commission will have four subcommissions with 10 members<br>\neach. The subcommissions will be charged with handling individual<br>\nduties related to the audit.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of these 204 names came as the government<br>\nsaid on Wednesday that the establishment of the wealth commission<br>\nwas one of the preconditions set to obtain the next loan<br>\ndisbursement from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
