Jakarta (ANTARA) - The administrator and owner of the Instagram\naccount @bekasi_menggugat<\/span>, Wawan Hermawan,\nhas been sentenced to seven months in prison after being proven to have\nmanipulated and edited posts related to protest actions that led to\nunrest in August 2025.<\/p>\n

Presiding Judge Adek Nurhadi imposed the sentence, deducting the time\nalready served by Wawan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe defendant Wawan Hermawan has been proven legally and\nconvincingly guilty of committing a criminal offence,\u201d stated the\nPresiding Judge during the verdict reading at the Central Jakarta\nDistrict Court on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Thus, Wawan was found guilty of violating Article 28 paragraph (3) in\nconjunction with Article 45A paragraph (3) of Law No.\u00a011 of 2008 on\nElectronic Information and Transactions, along with Article 160 of the\nCriminal Code.<\/p>\n

The sentence handed down by the panel of judges was lower than the\nprevious prosecutor\u2019s demand of one year in prison.<\/p>\n

It was stated that the @bekasi_menggugat<\/span> account has been\ncontrolled by Wawan since 27 March 2025, with 826 followers. On it,\nWawan uploaded content in the form of invitations to join protest\nactions in August 2025.<\/p>\n

Then, on 21 August 2025, Wawan, through the Instagram social media\naccount named @bekasi_menggugat<\/span>, disseminated\nseveral pieces of electronic information in the form of images on\nInstagram feed and stories, which essentially invited the public to\ncarry out protest actions.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, on 27 August 2025, the @bekasi_menggugat<\/span> account was\ntagged by another account named @kepolu1397<\/span>. After that, Wawan\ndeliberately reposted the tagged content by altering its narrative.<\/p>\n

The narrative in the content uploaded by Wawan was titled \u201cSaid Iqbal\nUrges Anarko, Students & BEM to Immediately Join the 28 August\nAction: This is Purely an Indonesian People\u2019s Movement.\u201d<\/p>\n
