        "content": "<p>Water supply for 21,082 households in West Sumatra has been restored\nwithin 30 days after emergency repairs to the drinking water\ninfrastructure damaged by flash floods in November 2025. The restoration\nwas carried out through an emergency response and infrastructure\nrehabilitation project executed by PT Hutama Karya (Persero) in Agam\nRegency, South Pesisir Regency, and Padang City. Previous flash floods\ncaused significant damage to pipeline networks and water supply\nfacilities, with several main distribution lines severed and support\nstructures owned by PDAM and Pamsimas affected. In Padang City, the\nPalukahan water supply system suffered severe damage. The existing weir\nat Guo Kuranji water supply system, critical for raw water flow to\ntreatment plants, was also damaged. To expedite service restoration,\nHutama Karya conducted simultaneous repairs across affected areas. At\nthe critical Guo Kuranji site, a temporary weir was built using\nthree-layer woven geotextile reinforced with large boulders to maintain\nwater flow to treatment plants. In Batu Kambing water supply system,\nAgam Regency, teams recovered flood-washed pipes for reinstallation,\nrestoring distribution networks. The project also ensured water access\nfor residents in temporary housing (huntara), with 399 households in\neight huntara sites across Agam and South Pesisir regencies regaining\nwater supply. Repairs to the Palukahan transmission pipeline and Balai\nGadang distribution network restored water for 21,082 household\nconnections, while the emergency weir at Guo Kuranji maintained supply\nfor approximately 6,312 active customers. Challenges included remote\nlocations with limited access to main transport infrastructure in parts\nof Agam and South Pesisir.<\/p>",
