Warning to amusement centers<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): The Tangerang authorities vow to take stern
\naction against the managements of amusement centers found
\nviolating their operation permits.<\/p>\n
Nurhayat, spokesman for the Tangerang mayoralty said yesterday
\nthat a team has been set up to raid amusement centers operating
\nin the area soon.<\/p>\n
Some amusement centers and hotels have become fronts for
\nprostitution, he said, citing Hotel Transit as an example.<\/p>\n
Families living near the hotel have been complaining about
\nprostitution at the hotel.<\/p>\n
A visitor to the hotel, who asked not to be identified, said
\nthat he paid Rp 60,000 per hour for a room. He said couples
\nsimply parked their car in a garage at the back of the hotel and
\nthe hotel employees arranged for rooms.<\/p>\n
\"We cannot condone prostitution,\" Nurhayat said, adding that
\nthe authorities could close the hotel and revoke its operation
\npermit for good.<\/p>\n
He said that the Tangerang mayoralty has issued operation
\npermits for karaoke houses, restaurants and singing halls.
\n\"Action must be taken if the amusement center owners violate the
\noperation permits,\" he said.<\/p>\n
At least three amusement centers have been closed for
\nviolating permits.<\/p>\n
There are now six amusement centers and restaurants operating
\nin Tangerang. (13)<\/p>",
