TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Internet kiosk, or Warnet entrepreneurs have objected to continue the computer legalization agreement with Microsoft.<\/p>\n
The \u201cMicrosoft software rental agreement\u201d (MSRA) has been going on for a year.<\/p>\n
Rudi Rusdiah, Head of the Telematics Community Warnet Entrepreneurs Association, said that MSRA does not provide value added for Warnet entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n
This is because, after signing the agreement, a lot of Warnets disappeared.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe benefits are almost none. Instead, Warnets must always be checked although there have been no reports to the police,\u201d said Rudi in Jakarta yesterday (28\/3).<\/p>\n
Warnet entrepreneurs also experience difficulty in selling computers and software when they have to close down the business.<\/p>\n
This is despite them needing funds to run other businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do business in Indonesia but we must obey US law,\u201d said Rudi.<\/p>\n
Warnet entrepreneurs are of the opinion that it is better to purchase software at market price.<\/p>\n
They have said they will not continue the agreement if Microsoft does not change the provisions that result in losses.<\/p>\n
According to Anti Srihartati Suryaman, the PT Microsoft Indonesia's License Compliance Manager for Small Midmarket Solutions and Partners, Microsoft does not force Warnets to sign the MSRA.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt's their right not to continue the agreement,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The agreement, she said, was the solution to the right to lease computers in order to fulfill legal aspects as Warnet businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also help the administration process,\u201d said Anti.<\/p>\n
MSRA is given to Warnets that use original software and the approval process is free of charge.<\/p>\n
