        "content": "<p>Wardiman inspects festival preparations<\/p>\n<p>TOKYO (JP): Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture<br>\nWardiman Djojonegoro arrived in Tokyo Friday morning to inspect<br>\npreparation and the progress of the Indonesia-Japan Friendship<br>\nFestival 1997.<\/p>\n<p>Accompanied by Director General of Culture Edi Sedyawati and<br>\nDirector of the National Museum of Indonesia Suwati Kartiwa,<br>\nWardiman went directly to the Tokyo National Museum to meet the<br>\nmuseum director Yashuhiro Nishioka and inspect the preparation of<br>\nthe Treasures of Ancient Indonesian Kingdom, scheduled to be held<br>\nat the museum from Sept. 17 to Nov. 9.<\/p>\n<p>Nishioka reported that the pre-exhibition, which has been held<br>\nsince Aug. 5, has attracted 26,000 visitors.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We hope that actual exhibitions attract 20,000 visitors each<br>\nweek for the next eight weeks,&quot; said a Tokyo National Museum<br>\nofficial.<\/p>\n<p>The minister and his group then visited the Toshimaan<br>\namusement park, where a Bali festival became a main attraction.<br>\nThe park hoped to attract 1.2 million visitors in 44 days of the<br>\nfestival.<\/p>\n<p>Balinese music, played by Tirtasari troupe of Peliatan, Ubud,<br>\nenriched the atmosphere of the park. The dancers perform daily at<br>\na mock open air Balinese theater, recreated out of painted<br>\nplaywood. Younger members of the group performed at the<br>\nchildren&apos;s &quot;cicak&quot; theater. Apart from the park&apos;s main rides, it<br>\nseemed just like in Bali. Even a Bali beer garden, inspired by<br>\nthe bars of Kuta, could be found. Japanese waiters in Balinese<br>\ncostume served in these bars.<\/p>\n<p>Two Bali museums, provided the park and festival with an<br>\neducational ingredient. One in association with the Agung Bali<br>\nMuseum of Art, showed painting by lesser known artist. The other<br>\nmuseum showed an exhibition about the world famous double ikat<br>\nweaving method from Bali.<\/p>",
