Wanted: Manpower professionals<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Jacob Nuwa
\nWea is worried about the appointment of unprofessional people as
\nchiefs of local manpower and transmigration offices.<\/p>\n
He said that their presence could harm the development
\nprograms of manpower and transmigration departments in the
\nregions.<\/p>\n
"There are now many former subdistrict chiefs and former
\nmayors, as well as other former officials, serving as heads of
\nregional manpower and transmigration offices," Nuwa Wea told a
\nmeeting in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
"They don't understand manpower affairs, so they will
\ncertainly not be able to resolve the problems in their regions,"
\nhe added.<\/p>\n
He said it took a long time to understand manpower problems
\ndue to their relative complexity.<\/p>\n
The minister also warned the International Labor Organization
\n(ILO) against carrying out unilateral programs with regional
\nadministrations without consulting his ministry.<\/p>\n
"I remind the ILO to conduct their activities through the
