        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2013 The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is encouraging people to\nutilise the South Coast Route (Pansela) or South Coast Route of Java as\nan alternative travel route for the 2026 Eid holiday exodus.<\/p>\n<p>The South Coast Route not only helps alleviate congestion but also\noffers panoramic views of the southern coast of Java.<\/p>\n<p>Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stated that the government\ncontinues to ensure the readiness of national road infrastructure so\nthat holiday travel and return traffic can proceed smoothly, safely, and\ncomfortably.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe South Coast Route can serve as an alternative travel route for\nholiday travellers. Besides helping reduce congestion on main routes\nsuch as the Cikampek area, this route also has significant tourism\npotential as it passes through the southern coastal area of Java,\u201d said\nDody on Tuesday (17 March 2026).<\/p>\n<p>Along this route, holiday travellers can enjoy various coastal\ntourism destinations such as Rancabuaya Beach and Pangandaran Beach,\nParangtritis Beach, and the Sendang Biru coastal area which serves as a\ngateway to Sempu Island.<\/p>\n<p>As part of efforts to enhance infrastructure reliability along the\nSouth Coast corridor, the Ministry of Public Works has completed several\npreservation and rehabilitation works.<\/p>\n<p>This includes the rehabilitation of the Cidahon Bridge on the\nnational road section of Cilaki\u2013Rancabuaya in Garut Regency, West\nJava.<\/p>\n<p>The 50.7-metre bridge rehabilitation was carried out by the\nLarge-Scale National Road Implementation Office (BBPJN) of DKI\nJakarta\u2013West Java, Directorate General of Road Development, Ministry of\nPublic Works, beginning in October 2025 and has been completed at 100\nper cent, to enhance structural reliability and road user safety.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the government has also prepared holiday travel posts\nat various national road sections, including along the South Coast Route\nfrom Banten to East Java.<\/p>\n<p>Nationally, 496 holiday travel posts have been deployed with the\nsupport of 1,461 Disaster Relief Unit (DRU) units comprising equipment\nand emergency response materials.<\/p>\n<p>With this infrastructure readiness, the South Coast Route not only\nserves as an alternative vehicle distribution route during the holiday\nexodus, but also offers a different travel experience with the natural\npanorama of the southern coast of Java.<\/p>",
