Wang wins Olympic golf c'ships<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Wang Ter Chiang of China Taipei convincingly
\nscored five-under par in the final day of the Rp 250 million
\n(US$28,090) Olympic Golf Championships at the Rancamaya Golf and
\nCountry Club in Bogor Friday. He pocketed the Rp 66 million cash
\nprize money and received the Bohemian crystal trophy.<\/p>\n
Wang carded two birdies in hole 2 and 3 respectively before
\nproducing a total of 12-under par 276. Spectators, standing near
\nholes 9 and 18, applauded Wang's attractive performance.<\/p>\n
Indonesians Maan Nasim and Ilyasak shared the second place
\nwith a total of four-under par 284.<\/p>\n
Maan created one-under par 71. He received acknowledgement
\nfrom spectators as he managed a successful putt from a two-meter
\ndistance on hole 9.<\/p>\n
While Ilyasak, who was second on Thursday's scoreboard,
\nspoiled his chances of trailing Wang after making two-over par
\n74.<\/p>\n
Malaysian Danny Chia, who jointly led the first day with Wang,
\nonly finished third after producing two-under par 70 for a total
\nof two-under 286.<\/p>\n
Defending champion Stephen Atako Lindskog of Sweden failed to
\nperform his best during the four-day event as he only finished
\nfour with a total score of one-under par 287.<\/p>\n
In the championships, Lindskog carded one-over par 73 on the
\nfirst day, one-under par 71 on the second and third rounds and an
\neven par on the final day.<\/p>\n
Other golfers finished over par on the score board.<\/p>\n
In the amateur class, Indra Hermawan of Indonesia managed to
\nretain his leading score to finish first after carding one-over
\npar 73. Indra produced eight-over par 296.<\/p>\n
\"This result meets my expectation. The hot sunshine didn't
\nbother my game. I'm really glad as I could win my first
\ntournament,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Tough challenger I Ketut Sugiartha, who narrowly trailed Indra
\non the third day, spoiled his chance in the final as he created
\n10-over par 82 to only finish fourth with a total of 24-over par
