        "content": "<p>Palangka Raya \u2014 The Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Science and\nTechnology (Wamendiktisaintek), Fauzan, has urged doctors undergoing\nspecialist training at Universitas Palangka Raya (UPR) to commit to\nserving and contributing to health development in Central Kalimantan.\n\u2018These specialist doctors after graduation are expected to support and\nstrengthen the medical workforce in Kalimantan,\u2019 he said on Thursday,\nafter inaugurating the Medical Education and Research Center (MERC) of\nthe UPR Faculty of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Fauzan said that in Indonesia the distribution of doctors remains\nvery limited, with many conditions that require specialist treatment but\nthe number is insufficient or not available. \u2018Therefore, as I stated\nearlier, the doctors educated at UPR after graduation will contribute to\nhealth in Kalteng. So there will no longer be the situation where they\nstudy here and then move elsewhere,\u2019 he explained.<\/p>\n<p>The Vice Governor of Central Kalimantan, Edy Pratowo, said the MERC\u2019s\nexistence is a major support in delivering high-quality, affordable\nhealth services for all segments of society. \u2018Progress in regional\ndevelopment is determined by the quality of our human resources,\u2019 he\nsaid. He added that MERC would serve as a hub for strengthening research\nand learning in the health sector, and hoped it would generate synergy\nwith the Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan. \u2018This momentum is\nto join hands to advance the education of Central Kalimantan,\u2019 he\nasserted.<\/p>\n<p>UPR Rector Salampak said MERC is crucial as a support for the Faculty\nof Medicine.
